How a reading corner changed a classroom
Forty storybooks, two cushions and a rule: anyone can borrow a book.
When we opened a reading corner in one of our centres, the teacher worried the books would be lost within a month. Instead, children started reading to their younger brothers and sisters at home, and asking for new titles every week.
Three months later, the share of children reading a full paragraph had doubled. Every centre now has one.
